Bhanendra Sahu
I was born and raised in Chhattisgarh, India, where an early fascination with science laid the foundation for my academic journey. I earned my B.Sc. in Chemistry from Govt. Nagarjuna P.G. College of Science, Raipur and went on to complete my M.Sc. from National Institute of Technology Rourkela, further deepening my interest in polymer science and materials chemistry. This passion led me to pursue a Ph.D. in Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai, where I specialize in polymer chemistry and advanced functional materials.

My research focuses on design, synthesis and application of macromolecularly engineered smart polymeric materials and developing next-generation, stimuli-responsive polymers using photoinduced reversible deactivation radical polymerization (photoRDRP) strategies. I work on the design and synthesis of multi-arm star polymers, block copolymers, and smart hydrogel networks that respond to environmental cues such as light, pH, and temperature. These materials have wide-ranging applications in drug delivery, environmental remediation, and 3D/4D printing. My broader goal is to bridge fundamental polymer science with applied technologies to create materials that support a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable future.
